The introduction of textile machinery such as the spinning jenny, power loom, and cotton gin transformed the fabric industry by enabling faster, cheaper, and larger-scale production (Clark, 2008). The mid-19th century brought the sewing machine, which further shifted garment production away from being handmade at home or by tailors.



“Make love not war” was a popular slogan during the hippie movement. The movement gained prominence in the 1960s, a period marked by the U.S. war in Vietnam (1955–1975). It represented public dissent against the war and became especially influential among the younger generation. The movement left a significant impact on public opinion and reshaped the cultural landscape in music, drama, and fashion.

The hijab, or head cover, is a very common practice and style in Arab countries. It represents modesty, and its practice is “supposedly” based on Islamic ideology. Its widespread use is synonymous with the understanding of Islamic doctrine and the philosophy or wisdom behind the practice.
